Pizza Margherita, Italian Recipe - Gianni's North Beach | Gianni North Beach

Pizza margherita is THE classic pizza. Legend has it that it was created during the late 19th century in honor of Queen Margherita's visit to Naples, and the red tomatoes, the green basil and the white cheese represent the colors of the Italian flag. Now, I wasn't around then, so I can't tell you if that's true, but I can say that we owe a big debt to whoever created it for whatever reason they did cuz it's delicious.

What makes this pizza a true Neapolitan-style margherita are simple, fresh ingredients. As with anything simple, use the best ingredients you can get so every single item can shine and make your pizza margherita the one people are gonna want again and again.
