Stuffed Vine Leaves-Dolmades are a Greek dish made with vine leaves, stuffed with a delicious rice and herbs mix, shaped into small rolls and boiled until deliciously soft and juicy. They are an extraordinary Meze or side dish! Dolmades are also a delicacy in other Mediterranean, Balcan and middle East countries.
This recipe is made with rice so it’s suitable for vegans but some dolmades recipes also include minced meat. The Meat dolmades are served warm with egg lemon sauce, while meatless vegan dolmades are served cold or at room temp. with creamy yogurt on the side for which I give you the recipe as well (vegans can use a vegan altern.). Nowadays, you can find ready made Dolmades in a can, which is of course easier than preparing your own.
