The clanging of metalware, the rumbling sounds of the exhaust - these are the sounds of a Stir-Fry (Zi Char) business. Ho Kee Seafood is operated by 76-year-old Uncle Teo and his wife. The items on their menu make decision-making for a hungry soul very difficult - there are over 60 dishes! Ranging from Chinese to Thai dishes, they offer popular dishes such as Sweet & Sour Pork, Fried Rice/Noodles, Hor Fun, Tom Yum Soup, Mango Salad, Thai Basil Pork with rice, and many others! The influence of Thai elements in the menu actually came from his wife, who comes from Thailand.Preparations start in the morning at 7am, as Uncle Teo makes his way to the neighbouring Chinatown market to purchase the ingredients required for the day.At times, Uncle Teo mans the stall on his own. A pair of hands managing all aspects of the hawker trade - cooking, preparing, tending to customers, its not an easy feat. The business has also been negatively hit by COVID-19, as the situation has resulted in fewer people visiting the stall.Uncle Teo started working at a young age of 9 years old, doing odd jobs at Chinatown! He was later involved in the a roast duck business for around 3 decades, before making a switch to the current Zi Char business. With his decades of experience, Uncle Teo offers to make custom-made Zi Char with the ingredients he has. If you have a special request, dont hesitate to let Uncle know!Operating hours:1100H - 2100HClosed on MonAddress:Hong Lim Food Centre #02-21Music:Happiness from https://www.bensound.comJoin HappyCat. for more food adventures!
