Ice Cream Tempura Recipe (Fried Ice Cream Wrapped with Castella Cake) | Cooking with Dog

We are making Ice Cream Tempura. We will make sure not to break the deep-fried batter! The castella sponge cake works as a heat insulator. The deep-fried batter is piping hot but the ice cream hasn’t melted. This is impressive! Delicious!

* Hardening ice cream balls in the freezer is not included in cook time.

Vanilla Ice Cream
Chocolate Ice Cream
Matcha Ice Cream
6 slices of Castella or regular sponge cake (7x5cm/2.8x2.0 inch)

- Batter -
3 tbsp Cold Water
30g Cake Flour (1.1 oz)

Frying Oil
Raspberry Sauce or diluted raspberry jam

* 1 tablespoon (tbsp) = 15 ml, 1 teaspoon (tsp) = 5 ml
