How to make Quiche Lorraine using Nueske's Bacon!

Quiche Lorraine

We've been planning this one for too long. Kyler LOVES quiche and so here it is. Using our favorite oleaginous friend, we are using Nueske's bacon! If you like smokey, salty bacon, pull up a chair roll up those sleeves and tune in. Thick cut is the way to go here.

Here's how we make it.

Store bought pie dough, thawed out. (feel like making your own? Go for it. Just catering to those who need a short(er) cut)

3 strips of thick cut Nueske's bacon. https://www.nueskes.com/
1/2 onion, diced
6-8 oz. grated gruyere
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups heavy whipping cream
shake or zest of ground nutmeg
generous pinch of salt
cracked pepper to taste

Set your oven to 400 degrees F.

lay out your bacon on a bacon sheet over foil or parchment and heat up for about 20 minutes (if using thick cut)

For the pie dough.
once you lay it over the pie plate, I hear it's best to cut a parchment circle, place on the dough, then fill it with dried beans. Bake it for about 12 minutes, then let let cool. (We didn't do this and the pie dough burned a bit, but it was still yummy)

Reduce oven heat to 375 degrees F.

When the bacon is done, remove it and set aside but use some of that awesome bacon grease to sweat your onion until translucent. Oh, the smells!!!

chop up the bacon into nice big bite size pieces. Mix the bacon, onion and cheese and drop it on it to the pie shell. Evenly distribute.

Mix the eggs, cream, nutmeg, salt and pepper, then gently pour over your pie crust, introducing this mix with your other batch of deliciousness.

Bake in the oven for about 25 minutes. Let cool, then serve.
