Kootu is a southindian dish that combines lentils and vegetables.This cabbage kootu is a healthy and delicious gravy which can be paired with rice or roti.Ingredients:Cabbage- 1 smallToordal- 1/2 cupChannadal- 1/4 cupTurmeric powder- 1/4 tspSalt- 3/4 tspCurryleaves- 1sprigHing- A pinchShredded coconut- 1/2 cupJeera- 1 tspGreen chillies- 3Red chillies- 1Mustard seeds- 1/4 tspDirections:1. Pressure cook 1/2 cup toordal for upto 4 whistles.Keep it ready.2.Take cabbage, Channadal and 1/2 cup water in a vessel.Add turmeric powder, salt, hing and curry leaves .3. Cover the lid and cook until the vegetables are soft.4. Grind coconut, jeera and green chillies into a fine paste.When the cabbage is cooked, add this paste. Let it boil for couple of minutes.5. Finally add the mashed dal and cook for another 2-3 minutes.Then switch off the heat.For seasoning: Heat 1 tap of oil. Add mustard seeds and 1 red chilly.
