3 Steps to Get Your Kids to Pack their Own School Lunches

It's almost back to school time and this year I have not one, not two, but THREE kids in school! Seriously. When did that happen! Thankfully, only two of them need lunches packed every day. But in reality - that's still ten lunches packed every week! Yikes!

As fun as packing school lunches can be (note my sarcasm), as a registered dietitian I know how important a balanced lunch is for my kids. It's also important to give your kids a chance to explore the kitchen, be brave with their food choices, and feel a little bit of control over their food selection. Because, the more you involve your kids (especially picky eaters) in the kitchen the more likely they are to actually eat their food! And we all want our kids to eat their lunch at school!

This year we are trying something new when it comes to school lunches. I'm passing on the lunch-packing torch to my kids. That's right! I have decided to teach my kids to pack their own lunches. And I'm about to share the top three things you need to know in order to get your kids packing their own school lunches too. Let's get started!
