Southindian Mixture/Diwali snacks/மிக்சர் | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Mixture is a popular snack of south india.It is little time consuming to make, but its worth all the effort.If you know how to prepare kara boondi and omapodi, then preparing South Indian mixture at home is no big deal.
Ingredients:
For boondhi:
Gramflour- 1.5 cups
Riceflour- 1 tbsp
Salt- As needed
Red chilli powder-1 tsp
Hing- A pinch
For Omapodi:
Gramflour- 1.5 cups
Rice flour- 1 tbsp
Salt- As needed
Ajwain- 1 tsp

Poha(Aval)- 2 cups
Peanuts- 2 cups
Curry leaves- For garnishing
Pottukadalai(Dalaya split)- 1.5 cups
Red chilli powder- 2 tsp
Salt- As needed

Directions:
1.Mix all ingredients for boondhi in a bowl.Add water little by little and make a slightly thin and smooth batter.Heat oil in a kadai. Place jahrni karandi on top of the oil at a decent height. Pour some batter on the jahrni . spread it with a ladle.Fry boondhis till they are golden brown and crispy. After the oil stops sizzling , continue to fry the boondis for some more time.Then remove with a slotted spoon.Keep the fried boondis aside.
2.Omapodi: Mis all the ingredients for omapodi.Add water to form a smooth dough .Heat oil in a kadai.Take a portion of the dough and place it inside the sev maker with omapodi disc.Press the sev maker by directly keeping it on top of the oil. After 2-3 minutes , gently turn the omapodi with a slotted spoon.When the oil stops sizzling, remove the omapodi from oil.
3.Fry poha in oil . keep it aside.
4. Fry peanuts and curry leaves in oil. Keep it aside.
5.Mix boondi, crushed omapodi, fried poha, fried peanuts, curry leaves and daily split in a big bowl.Add red chilli powder and salt. Mix it well.
You can add roasted cashews and garlic cloves for enhanced flavor.
Mixture is ready!!
