Smooth poached chicken with a 60-year old recipe at Heng Ji Chicken Rice

Dubbed by its fans as one of the best stalls serving poached chicken, Heng Ji has been around for more than 60 years. Its smooth and silky chicken has continued to draw crowds to the stall. Having taken over the reins in 2021, Ms Jacey Ng and her cousin learnt the ropes from the former elderly owners who have retired.

Determined to keep the legacy alive, the duo keeps close to the recipes passed down to them. The poached chicken may look deceptively simple, but the preparation work is tedious.
