Onions steeped in vinegar give this chicken dish a special taste

SIRKA PYAAZ MURGH AUR HARI MIRCH

Ingredients

750 gms chicken, skinned and cut into 1 inch pieces on the bone
10-12 small onions, steeped in vinegar
3 tbsps oil
2 medium onions
8-10 cloves
16 fat light green chillies
1½ tbsps ginger-garlic paste
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
½ cup fresh tomato puree
1 tsp coriander powder
½ tsp cumin powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp garam masala powder

Method

1. Heat oil in a large non-stick pan. Slice onions.
2. Add cloves and onions to the pan. Slit green chillies, without cutting through, and roast them on direct flame.
3. Add ginger-garlic paste to the pan, mix and sauté. Add chicken, turmeric powder and salt and mix well.
4. Add fresh tomato puree and roasted green chillies and mix well. Cover and cook.
5. Add small onions steeped in vinegar, coriander powder, cumin powder and red chilli powder and mix. Add 1 cup water and mix. Cover and cook.
6. Add garam masala powder and mix. Cover and cook till chicken is completely done.
7. Transfer into a serving dish and serve hot.
