Wah Yuen Porridge was founded by Mr Yip Swee Wah in 1956 at the five footway at Kim Poh Road, before settling at Tiong Bahru Food Centre. Having mastered the skills of cooking silky, creamy congee, the elder son Mr Raymond Yip set out on his own in 2005 at Telok Blangah Drive Food Centre. Together with his wife, the couple followed their father's recipe, from cooking congee to making meatballs, etc. Try the all-in-one Mandarin Congee that comes with cuttlefish and intestines. Now in their 60s, the couple takes it easy and opens the stall only over weekends. Watch the video for a glimpse into the cooking of porridge. Brought to you by HappyCat..
