Restaurant-Style Soy Sauce Steamed Fish w/ Preserved Radish Chinese Steamed Fish Recipe

Fish is a must-have at our family's Chinese New Year reunion dinner because fish is called (Yu 2) in Chinese and sounds like , which means abundance or surplus. We always use this auspicious saying (Nian Nian You Yu) to wish each other throughout Chinese New Year. This means may you be blessed with plenty year after year. It's really meaningful. That's why fish is a must-have dish for Chinese New Year reunion dinner.

We've used Knorr SavorRich Chicken Concentrated Seasoning in this recipe to create this restaurant style steamed fish. Knorr SavorRich Chicken Concentrated Seasoning is made with slowly simmered chicken. We love it because it has a rich, meaty flavour that reminds us of a long-boiled homemade broth. We usually keep a bottle in the fridge and use it to add richness and flavour to our dishes. If you're not a Chinese, you'll probably be put off by the look of the fish. I can totally understand why. That's why we don't usually share recipes using whole fish. However, it is customary for Chinese to cook and serve fish whole with its head and tail intact for good luck. So for special occasions like Chinese New Year and weddings, you'll almost always see a whole fish at the dining table. We've been brought up that way and that's what we're continuing to do now.

By the way, this year is extra special for us because Roland is featured in Knorr's point-of-sale materials, which are distributed across Singapore's supermarkets. Keep an eye out for him and take a photo with him (LOL!) at the supermarket near you. Also, Knorr is running a special promotion in Singapore now. You'll get a FREE* La Gourmet 28cm Fry Pan (worth $79.90) with every $20 spent on Knorr Products. Purchases need to include a Knorr SavorRich Liquid Seasoning.
