Old is Gold - Beef Kway Teow in the Teochew Way

Run by an elderly couple, Mr Tan and Mdm Wu, have been serving their Teochew beef Kway Teow soup since 1983. Prior to that, Mr Tan used to help his father on a pushcart near Boon Tat St.

Each hearty bowl of beef Kway Teow is generously loaded with pinkish, tender beef slices with light sweet flavoured soup. A mixed bowl consists of beef slices, tendon, brisket, tripe, and meatballs. The dry version is drenched with a lightly starched gravy. The meatball is firm and bouncy, while the tripe is spongy and tendon has a gelatinous texture.

Now in their 70s, the couple will continue to serve their heritage food for as long as they can. But it's a matter of time when the shutters closed for good. Get yourself a comforting bowl of Teochew beef Kway Teow!
