Neer Dosa/sponge dosa/ soft dosa | Gayathiri's Cookbook

Neer dosa is a thin, soft and lacy crepe made from rice batter, belongs to Karnataka cuisine. “Neer” means “water” and the consistency of this dosa batter is very watery hence it is called Neer dosa.

It is very easy to make at home since it doesn’t require fermentation process like any other dosas.

Ingredients:

Raw rice-1 cup
Shredded coconut- 1/2 cup
Salt- 1/2 teaspoon
Water- 2.5 cups

Directions:
1. Soak rice for 6-8 hours.Grind soaked rice and shredded coconut into a smooth paste using little water.
2. Add salt and 2.5 cups of water to get a thin flowing consistency.
3. Pour a ladle of batter over hot tawa.Cover and cook till done in medium flame.
4. Do not cook dosa on both sides.Fold it in triangle. Serve hot with chutneys.

Neer dosa is ready!!
