Morkali is a traditional brahmin dish prepared with rice flour and buttermilk which helps in digestion .It can be prepared within 15 minutes and you can have it as a quick breakfast or as an evening tiffin. You do not need any side dish for this . You can make it extra special by decorating it with selected veggies, if needed.

Ingredients:

Rice flour(அரிசிமாவு ) - 1 cup
Buttermilk(மோர் ) - 1 cup
Salt(உப்பு)- As needed
Mormilagai(மோர்மிளகாய் )- 6-8
Curry leaves(கறிவேப்பிலை )- For seasoning
Hing(பெருங்காயம்)- A pinch
Oil(எண்ணெய் )- 6-8 tbsp
Mustard seeds(கடுகு )- 1 tsp
Uraddal ( உளுத்தம்பருப்பு ) - 1.5 tsp
Channadal(கடலைப்பருப்பு ) - 1.5 tsp
Recipe:
1.Take 1 cup curd in a bowl.Add hing, salt and water.
2. Beat the curd well to create a thin buttermilk consistency.
3. Add 1 cup rice flour and mix well so that there are no lumps.
4. Heat 2 tbsp sesame oil. Add mustard seeds, channadal, uraddal and 6-8 mormilagai and sauté until the dal turn golden brown.
5.Add buttermilk and curry leaves and stir continuously.When the mixture becomes thick, add 2 tbsp sesame oil. Keep stirring till the mixture rolls like a ball without sticking to the side of the pan. When you touch the morkali with your finger, it should not stick.
6. At this stage, for the mixture on a greased plate.Grease a back of the spoon with oil. Use the back of the spoon tp level the mixture.Allow it to cool a little bit and then cut into shapes.
