How to Make Japanese cream stew with saikyo miso and chicken | all day i eat like a shark

Creamy miso stew with chicken is one of my favorite Japanese recipes. It's extremely simple to make and requires only a handful of ingredients. I don't remember the first time I had cream stew but I remember how warm and comforting it tastes.

I initially started making cream stew with the box. You know like the curry roux blocks or mapo tofu boxes they sell at the Japanese market. Easy? Yes, but lots of preservatives and colorings. We can now avoid thoses unhealthy ingredients and make it from scratch.

This cream stew only requires a handful of ingredients and results in flavor and umami that will surpass that of any box mix. The secret here is using miso paste!

Miso packs plenty of flavor and umami on it's own and in this recipe we're using white miso (saikyo miso) which has an extremely delicate and sweet flavor. If you can't find saikyo miso, regular white miso will work just fine. Hopefully this video shows how easy Japanese cream stew is to make at home!
