Greek Prosphoron or Prosforo or Prosphora i.e. Church Offering Bread
Makes 2 round loaves
Hi everyone and welcome back to my kitchen! Today I am showing you how to make Prosforo.
A Prosforo is a small loaf of leavened bread used in Orthodox Christian and Greek Catholic (Byzantine) liturgies and it literally means an offering to the Church.
You can prepare it anytime of the year and offer it on any Sunday at your local church. It is an integral part of the Sunday service and Holy Eucharist (Communion).
We usually make and offer 2 Prosfora to the church and thats what I will show you today.
I have inherited this beautiful wooden stamp for Prosforo from my aunt, and I will use it to decorate the breads on top. You can still make Prosforo even if you dont have the stamp at home, but it certainly is very decorative.
So come closer, and let me show you how to make your own Prosforo.
Suitable for fasting and vegans.
