This Chow chow kootu is a delicious South Indian gravy which goes well with hot steamed rice and rasam.It is made with chow chow vegetable, toordal, coconut and spices.Ingredients:Toordal- 1/2 cupChow chow- 2Turmeric powder- 1/2 tspSalt- As neededHing- A pinchCoconut--1/2 cupJeera- 1 tspRed chillies- 5Oil- 1 or 2 tspMustard seeds- 1 tspDirections:1. Take chow chow, turmeric powder, salt, hing and 1 cup water in a bowl.2. Boil until the vegetables are soft.3.Pressure cook 1/2 cup toordal for upto 4 whistles. Mash it well and keep it aside.4. Grind 1 tsp of jeera , 4 red chillies and 1/2 cup coconut into a fine paste and keep it ready.5.When the vegetables are cooked, add the ground paste. Let it boil for couple of minutes.6.
