Southern Thai Sour Curry Recipe (Gaeng Som) Thai Girl in the Kitchen

Today we'll see how to make this lovely southern Thai recipe : Sour curry with shrimps and raw papaya or Gaeng Som Goong Malakor.

I address the word 'southern Gaeng Som' a lot because the southern version of sour curry has different ingredients and a little different taste from other regions of Thailand.

The tastes are more intense and it's one of my favorite curries ever!

Recipe: How to make southern Thai sour curry (Gaeng Som) | Thai Girl in the Kitchen

Ingredients :

- 90g. Gaeng Som Curry Paste (See how to make : https://youtu.be/oDqMNAQDRoQ )

- 250g. Shrimps (or as much as you want)
- 200g. Raw papaya**
- 600ml. Water
- 1/2 tbsp. Palm sugar
- 4 tbsp. Tamarind paste
- 1 tbsp. Fish sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Salt
- 2 tbsp. Lime juice


**NOTE: The choice of vegetable for Thai sour curry is vary. You can add almost any veggies you like.
The more popular choices that Thais would use are ; raw papaya, cauliflower, turnip, carrot, long green beans, young coconut shoots, bamboo shoots, Katuri flower (Dok-Kae ), lotus stem, cabbage, morning glory, etc.
