Roasted Potatoes + Father-Daughter Relationships.

On this weeks TKV podcast episode (EP 23: link in bio), we discuss the impact of language barriers, particularly within the family. Ive been thinking about this issue a lot as my father and I have started to re-learn how to communicate with each other. Its awkward and weird and not really pleasant. But absolutely worth it.
.
For a long time, I thought that living in a multilingual family was a liability, not an asset. Because of the language barrier, my father and I were never able to talk about things like feelings or emotions or even art. As a result, we werent very close. But the thing I resented the most was the fact that I felt I had to become the adult in our relationship way too soon. He needed my English speaking skills much earlier than I was ready for. But when I started to feel that my parents safety might be endangered, I realized that this liability could become a powerful asset, one that would help me speak for my parents when the world tried to silence them.

The potatoes featured in this video are a take on a recipe posted by @theKitchn. Ill be adding it to the TKV Meal Planner this week.
