Queen Of Puddings - Old Cookbook ShowToday on the old cookbook show we're doing a recipe from 'New And exciting Allinson Recipes' an English cookbook that seems to date from the early post world war time period.Ingredients:1 ½ ozs. Allinson breadcrumbs½ pint milk½ oz. butter1 ½ ozs. Castor sugar2 egg yolksJamIngredients For Meringue:2 egg whites2 ozs. castor sugar1. Warm the milk, butter and sugar, then add the breadcrumbs, cook for a few minutes till they swell - then place aside to cool.2. Beat the egg yolks and add to the cooled mixture, pour into aa greased pie dish and bake till set, in a moderate oven 350 deg F. or mark 4/5 for approximately ½ hour.3. Whisk egg whites till stiff, fold in castor sugar.4. Spread a thick layer of jam on top of the set custard, pile on the meringue, drawing it up in peaks.
