The various names for the flatbread include bobbattu or baksham or oliga in Telugu, Andhra Pradesh holige or obbattu in Kannada, puran puri or vedmi in Gujarati, puran poli (पुरणपोळी) in Marathi, payasabolli or simply bolli in Malayalam , poli or uppittu Tamil, bhakshalu or pole / polae in Telugu, Telangana and ubbatti or simply poli in Konkani.
Holi celebrates the arrival of spring, the end of winter, the blossoming of love and for many it is a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. The festival also celebrates the beginning of a good spring harvest season.The first evening is known as Holika Dahan (burning of demon holika) or Chhoti Holi and the following day as Holi, Rangwali Holi, Dol Purnima, Dhuleti, Dhulandi, Ukuli, Manjal Kuli, Yaosang, Shigmo or Phagwah.
Rang Panchami (literally colour on the fifth) is a festival celebrated on Phalgun Krushnapaksh Panchami i.e. the fifth day of the second fortnight of the month of Phalgun.
