Prawns are marinated and cooked in a flavourful gravy. Definitely a treat to prawn lovers!
PRAWNS TEMPERADO

Ingredients

25-30 medium prawns, cleaned, deveined and washed
½ lemon
Salt to taste
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 medium tomato
1 medium onion
2-3 tbps oil
2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
1 inch ginger, finely chopped
2 tbsps finely chopped garlic
1 tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp vinegar
2-3 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves + for garnish
Lemon wedge for garnish

Method

1. Squeeze the juice of lemon in a bowl. Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 5-10 minutes.
2. Finely chop tomato and onion.
3. Heat oil in a kadai. Add green chillies, ginger and garlic and sauté for a minute.
4. Add chopped onion, mix and sauté for a minute. Add salt, mix and cook till the onion turns golden brown.
5. Add tomato, mix and cook till it turns soft and pulpy.
6. Add red chilli powder, garam masala powder and vinegar and mix well.
7. Add prawns and sauté on high heat for 3-4 minutes. Reduce the heat to medium, add ¼ cup water, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.
8. Add coriander leaves, mix and switch the heat off.
9. Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves and lemon wedge.
