All The Rage In 1936! Escalloped Hamburg Recipe - Glen And Friends Cooking Old Cookbook Show
Welcome back to the kitchen, friends! In today's Sunday morning episode of the Old Cookbook Show, we're delving into a recipe from the "Golden Jubilee Recipes 1886 to 1936." This cookbook is a gem from the Ladies Aid Society of the Poplar Hill Church of Christ in Poplar Hill, Ontario. Join me as I explore the history behind this community church cookbook, filled with delightful recipes focused on baking and sweets, along with intriguing glimpses into local businesses of the time. Today, we're recreating an Escalloped Hamburg recipe that was popular during this era. Let's step back in time and savour the flavours of 1930s rural Ontario!

ESCALLOPED HAMBURG
Put a layer of hamburg steak in a baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Then put in a layer of thin sliced, raw potatoes and onion, chopped fine. Dot with butter. Alternate layers until dish is full. Cover with enough milk to moisten.
Bake for one hour in a moderately hot oven.
