Pita Bread from Scratch! | The Chinese Cuisine

This delicious, versatile flatbread is easy to make from scratch!

INGREDIENTS (6 pieces):
- all purpose flour (~2.5 cups total)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 packet yeast
- 1 cup warm water

DIRECTIONS:
1. combine 1/2 cup of flour and yeast
2. add in 1/2 cup of warm water and mix
3. add in another 1/2 cup warm water and cover for 30 minutes
4. after 30 minutes, add in 1/2 cup flour and start mixing again
5. once the flour is combined, add another 1/2 cup of flour
6. add another 1/2 cup flour
7. add 1/4 cup flour (smaller increments to make sure the dough doesn't get too dry)
8. add the last bit of flour: 1/4 cup
9. cover the dough and let it rest for an hour
10. once the dough has risen, flatten it and could it into 6 pieces
11. knead each piece individually, then roll into a flat piece about 6 inches in width
12. add a little bit of oil to a pan on medium heat
13. cook the flatbread on each side for several minutes
14. serve and enjoy!
