Pettuleipä Finnish PINE BARK Bread Recipe | HARD TIMES -- recipes from times of hardship | emmymade

Pettuleipä, or pine bark bread, was made in Finland during times of famine. To make it, the inner bark of pine trees would be harvested, dried, and ground into a kind of flour, then added to bread recipes to stretch out the precious wheat flour. HUGE thanks to Lovely Anna for suggesting this recipe and for sending me the difficult-to-find pine bark flour.
