Not Another Mashed Potatoes Recipe - Does the internet really need another video recipe on how to make mashed potatoes? Probably not, there are tons of videos titled ultimate mashed potatoes, best ever mashed potatoes, creamiest mashed potatoes, perfect mashed potatoes... So why is Glen making this video?
Well because he was making mashed potatoes for dinner (to go with an amazing beef stew) and filming it just made sense.

Ingredients:
250 mL (1 cup) half-and-half / milk / cream
2-3 garlic cloves
2-3 stalks of thyme
1 Kg (2 pounds) dry or starchy potatoes, peeled
30 - 45 mL (2-3 Tbsp) coarse salt
15 - 30 mL ( 1 -2 Tbsp) dry mustard powder
125 mL (½ cup) butter, melted

Method:
Place milk, crushed garlic, and thyme in a small pot over low gentle heat to steep.
Peel the potatoes, cut into uniform chunks and place in a large pot.
Add salt and dried mustard to the pot along with enough cold water to cover.
Gently simmer the potatoes until they are fork tender.
Drain potatoes, and push them through a ricer.
Pour meted butter over potatoes, and gently stir in.
Taste potatoes and adjust salt if needed.
Pour half of milk through a strainer onto potatoes, and gently stir in.
Taste potatoes and judge consistency before adding remaining milk / cream.
Not all of the milk may be needed, depending on your potatoes.

**Tips
Instead of dry mustard powder you could use wasabi, or horseradish.
You could steep almost any flavour into the milk / cream.
