A Modern Twist to Chinese Tea - Hand-brewed Artisanal Sparkling Tea Pek Sin Choon X Danger Close

This video features a Chinese tea heritage journey at 2 different places. First is Pek Sin Choon Tea Merchants, a nearly one century old tea shop at Mosque Street. Second is Danger Close Beverage Company, a hawker stall at Alexandra that transforms in a modern interpretation of Chinese tea that attracts youngsters.

Pek Sin Choon Tea Merchants:
Established in 1925, Pek Xin Choon Tea Merchants is known to be one of the oldest shop selling Chinese tea locally. It is now helmed by Kenry Peh, the 3rd generation owner. A charming, avid storyteller and a master of his trade, Kenry fluently captivates his audience with the tea history and culture passed down by forefathers.

Pek Sin Choon's products, such as Renowned Unknown Fragrance Tea' and 'Ping Pong Tie Guan Yin' are commonly used in local restaurants and Bak Kut Teh hawker stalls.

Danger Close Beverage Company:
Kenry's tea leaves have expanded their uses like ice cream, bubble tea, enzymes, etc. Calvin Ang, a young entrepreneur, has creatively made use of the tea leaves and concocted a delightful product of sparkling Chinese tea.

Established in 2017, Calvin's stall specialises in hand-brewed artisanal sparkling tea, as well as cold brew coffee and craft beer on tap.

There are about 10 flavours of sparkling craft teas including Chinois, Renown Unknown Fragrance, etc. The menu is on a rotational basis, so be prepared to surprised with a new selection every visit.
