Macher Chop is a delicious and mouthwatering Bengali Style Fish Cutlet that is normally served as a party starter with Kashundi.Maccher Chop is Bengali treat for a cocktail snack. The fish, rich in protein makes this recipe as healthy as yummy. Ingredients:2-3 pieces Fish (Any freshwater fish) – boiled and deboned and skinned out2 Potatoes, boiled, peeled & mashed1 tbsp Onion finely chopped1 tsp Cashew 1 tsp Raisin1 tsp Ginger paste½ tsp Garlic paste1 tsp green chili paste1 tsp Turmeric powder1 tsp Red Chilli powder1 tsp Cumin powder1 tsp Garam masala2 Egg, beaten1 cup breadcrumbs1 tsp Coriander leaves, chopped1/3 cup flour for dusting½ cup Mustard oilOil to deep frySalt and Sugar to tasteMethod:1. Heat ½-cup oil in a pan. Add onions to the oil and stir-fry. Add ginger, garlic and green chilies paste and sauté well. 2. Add the boiled and deboned fish to the mixture and mix well. Now add mashed potatoes. Mix it all together.3. Add turmeric, chilli powder, cumin and garam masala powder, cashew, and raisin, mix well. Now add salt, sugar to taste and chopped coriander and give it a good mix. Let the mixture cool.4. Heat oil in a pan for deep-frying. Take portions of the fish mixture and form them into roundlets. Dip them in flour and dip the roundlets into beaten eggs. Coat all the roundlets in the flour and egg consecutively. 5. Fry these in the heated oil until a golden brown. Drain them out into paper towels to get rid of the excess oil.
