Mac Danzig: Why A Raw Vegan Diet Is Best For Athletic Performance And Feeling Great

Is a raw vegan diet based around fruit really superior to cooked vegan staples like potatoes and rice?

Mixed Martial Art (MMA) Lightweight champion Mac Danzig made it clear at the 2014 Texas VegFest that if you want optimal athletic and mental performance, low fat cooked vegan foods like potatoes and rice aren't going to give you the results that a diet of simple raw fruits and vegetables will.

In this video he talks about how he eats a raw diet, concerns over protein, and why he considers his fruit-based diet to be superior to cooked vegan foods.

The biggest difference between low fat raw and low fat cooked? Energy, Danzig says.

When he sticks to raw fruits and vegetables, he simply has more of it, and it comes to him more steadily, than it ever did when he was eating primarily low fat cooked vegan foods.

This type of menu allows you to thrive for both endurance training like running and explosive strength work like fighting and weight lifting.
