HOW TO: Make Puff Pastry | The Chinese Cuisine

Homemade puff pastry is a lot healthier than the store-bought kind! It is also easy to make.

INGREDIENTS:
- 150 g all purpose flour
- 50 g whole wheat flour
- 5 g salt
- 1 large egg
- 5 g water
- 200 g unsalted butter, soft

DIRECTIONS:
1. combine all your ingredients except for the butter and form into a dough. let it rest for 1 hour
2. cut your butter into thin pieces and form into a rectangle. put it into the fridge so it doesn't melt.
3. roll out your dough into a rectangle twice the size of the butter slab
4. fold the layer of butter within the dough, and roll out
5. fold again. make sure that the butter stays separate from the dough!
6. repeat this process multiple times (we did it 7 times) until there are multiple layers, and refrigerate for 10 minutes occasionally. make sure to wrap the dough in saran wrap so it doesn't dry out and crack!
