Rendang Ayam / Chicken rendang (仁当鸡)is a type of dry curry. It is also one of the specialties in Malaysia especially in the nyonya culture. Chicken rendang / Rendang ayam is rich in flavour because lots of spices and coconut milk are used in this dish. This is something which you will never satisfy by only having one piece. Due to different spices used, it also acts as a preservative for this dish and therefore if you cannot finish at the time, you can always freeze it and reheat whenever you want. In Malaysia, we serve this chicken rendang with steamed rice, nasi lemak (a type of coconut rice), ketupat (a compressed rice cake) and etc. The whole process of cooking chicken rendang can be time consuming and need the patience, that's why a lot of the times, you won't be getting authentic chicken rendang in the restaurant especially oversea. If you are a curry lovers, this rendang ayam / chicken rendang is something that you shouldn't miss. The taste of it is special and unique. Mostly importantly ayam rendang is not a crispy rendang.
