Get a taste of Pantai Timur cuisine & try this blue pea rice dish! Kantan by the Sib's

Although new in the hawker field, the four siblings work hand-in-hand to serve their mother's Nasi Kerabu using her Kelantan recipe.

Nasi Kerabu, meaning "Rice Salad", is a Malaysian rice dish popular in Kelantan.

At first glance, the blue pea rice stands out. But there is more to the plate. What sets it apart is that chicken and fish are steamed or baked first, and then grilled. Additionally, each plate comes with blue pea rice served with fish floss, salted egg, Keropok, vegetable salad and Solok Lada (stuffed chilli peppers). Freshly made by hand and steamed, Solok Lada refers to chilli stuffed with fish and grated coconut paste.

Choose from 6 main dishes to go with the rice. Ayam Goreng Brempah is fried chicken, Honey Grilled Chicken is coated with honey glaze, and Percik Chicken coated with creamy, spicy coconut sauce. The same sauce is used for Percik Fish that comes with a whole fish.

Beef lovers can choose Original Grilled Beef and Thai-style grilled beef served with a dipping sauce - Tiger Tears Beef.

To get all these dishes ready by 11am, the siblings start work at 6am as it takes time to prepare.

Watch the video for the preparation cooking of these dishes, and be piqued by the melange of spicy, coconut-ty, herb flavours and textures within!
