Fresh Turmeric is in season and this chutney is something you can literally pair up with anything and you will love it. Make this chutney and enjoy this flavourful and healthy haldi chutney.

FRESH TURMERIC CHUTNEY

Ingredients

1½ inch fresh turmeric, peeled and roughly chopped
½ cup scraped fresh coconut
3 garlic cloves
2 green chillies
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
½ tsp mustard seeds
¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)
12-15 curry leaves
2 dried red chillies, broken
Hot idlis to serve

Method

1. In a blender jar, add coconut, garlic cloves, green chillies, fresh turmeric, salt and ¼ cup water and blend to fine paste. Transfer into a large bowl.
2. For the tempering, heat oil in a tempering pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add asafoetida, curry leaves and dried red chillies and mix well. Take the pan off the heat.
3. Transfer the tempering in the prepared chutney and mix well. Transfer into a serving bowl.
4. Serve with hot idlis.
