Falling in love with 3 old-school peanut-filled fresh dishes Ho Guan Satay Bee Hoon SG Hawkers

At 76 years old, Mr Koh has been in the hawker business for more than 40 years. He and his wife used to sell economic rice, and as their age caught on, they switched to selling Cuttlefish Kang Kong, Satay Bee Hoon and Fried Tofu. Peanuts is used in all the 3 old-school dishes, in peanut gravy and ground peanuts.

The Cuttlefish Kang Kong is served with a whole slew of ingredients - pork liver, lean meat, tau pok, pineapple, lime, cuttlefish, kang kong, pickled leek, spicy sweet sauce and then topped up with peanut bits. Another unexpected item in the dish is, surprise, surprise, jellyfish! The result is a delectable, refreshing plate!

Fried Tofu that comes with cucumber and beansprouts is also another dish that can be eaten as a snack or light meal. The inside of the fried tofu is soft, which pairs well with the crunchy veggie.

Last but not least, the Satay Bee Hoon has the usual items - lean meat, liver, cockle, tau pok, beansprout and kang kong. Drenched in satay sauce, while the dish may not be aesthetically appealing, it makes a delightful meal.
