Chinese Steamed fish年菜之孔雀开屏

Chinese new year is just around the corner. On the Chinese New Year Eve, which is 24/1/2020, all the family member gather together and we have reunion dinner. This is one of the most important dinner in Chinese festival. We normally prepare few special dishes and we have names for each dishes prepared. For eg: pork hock means earns lots of money, hot pot means reunion, everyone in the family getting, prawn means happy entire year etc.

Fish in chinese normally symbolizing a wish for abundance in the coming year. Fish also means “surplus” or “extra.” The typical blessing is 年年有余 (Nián nián yǒuyú), wishing you to have a surplus (or fish) of food and money every year.

In this episode, I have make it into a shape like a peacock opening further / tail. It means so good luck.

So, if you are watching this video, whether you are chinese or not, for the coming year, I wish everyone having “surplus” and 'good luck' is with you and me the entire year.
