Amritsar Chana Masala Recipe - Indian Feast - चना मसाला (पंजाबी छोले चना) | Glen And Friends Cooking

Amritsar Chana Masala Recipe चना मसाला (पंजाबी छोले चना) This is an 'Indian' food recipe that is based on a 6 month trip we took through Indian in 2005 - I know in the video I say 2006 - 2007... but Julie corrected me later. How time flies!

Ingredients:
30 mL (2 Tbsp) veg oil
1 smallish onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
1” ginger, grated
5 mL (1 tsp) garam masala
1 mL (¼ tsp) turmeric
10 mL (2 tsp) ground cumin
10 mL (2 tsp) ground coriander
1 mL (¼ tsp) chili powder
2-3 tomatoes, crushed
1 can chickpeas, drained and rinsed

Method:
In a saucepan, heat the oil over medium high heat.
Add the onions and cook, stirring, until golden brown.
Add the garlic, and ginger; cook, stirring, until fragrant.
Stir in the dry spices and cook for about a minute before adding in the tomatoes.
Cook and stir the mixture until the tomatoes are broken down and then add the chickpeas.
Stir to combine, and add some water as needed to make a sauce.
Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes before serving.
