Restaurant Style Dal Khichdi Ingredients ListToor dal - 1 cupSoaked dalWater as requiredTurmeric powder - 1/2 tspSalt to tasteCoriander seeds - 2 tbspCumin seeds - 1 tspFennel seeds - 1 tspFenugreek seeds - 1/3 tspDry red chilli - 5 no’sToast on low heat for – 2 minYellow mustard seeds - 2 tspGobindobhog rice - 1 cupWash & soak the rice for – 15 minOil - 1 tbspClarified butter (ghee) - 1 tbspAsafoetida (hing) - 1/4 tspTurmeric powder - 1/2 tspHot water - 600 mlSalt to tasteClarified butter (ghee) - 2 tbspCumin seeds - 1 tspCooking Steps1. Take the Toor Dal in a bowl and wash them properly with water. Let it soak for at least 30 minutes.2. Add in salt and turmeric powder, mix and close with a lid. Cook till 3-4 whistles.3. For Achaari masala , add coriander seed, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, fenugreek seeds and dry red chilli in a pan and roast it for 2 minutes. 4. Add yellow mustard seeds and roast until aromatic. 5. After cool down, grind all masala mix.6. Take the Gobindobhog rice in a bowl and wash them properly with water. Let it soak for at least 15 minutes.7. In heated pan, add oil, clarified butter, asafoetida(Hing), soaked rice and fry for 2 minutes.8. Add turmeric powder, roasted masala powder, hot water, salt and cook for 15 minutes.9. Add cooked dal and water to maintain consistency.10. For Tadka, take clarified butter, cumin seeds, dry chilli, chilli powder. Mix it11.
