Shopping at Restaurant Depot for some last minute paper products, I came across a gentleman that I've seen there for the past 3 years plus. We never talk about too much as our conversations last no more than 10 seconds; other than the usual "hi how are you" that's pretty much it. In the last 3 years also, I never knew what his name was either. I guess our conversations never got to that point, but today in our conversation, I simply asked him what he was doing for Valentines which was this day's evening. He said he was going to take his wife to South Beach to a steak restaurant but that he wasn't all entirely sure. Valentine's, on a Saturday night with NO reservations is the recipe for a disastrous evening, and a night his wife would surely be unhappy about...so I took the liberty to invite him and his wife to NoVe to enjoy an evening on us. We were full this evening but still made room for him and needless to say, they both enjoyed it to the fullest and they both were very happy. Some may ask, "What did you gain by doing something like this?" We didn't gain anything monetarily because what we gained can't be seen nor measured by a dollar...
