1936 North Dakota CREOLE CAKE | Glen And Friends Cooking

1936 North Dakota Creole Cake - We're not sure what makes this a Creole Cake Recipe? So wether it is a Creole Cake or just an imitation... it doesn't matter, because this is a great easy cake to bake none the less.

Ingredients:
125 mL (1/2 cup) butter or lard
500 mL (2 cups) brown sugar
3 eggs
45 mL (3 Tbsp) cocoa
125 mL (1/2 cup) strong coffee
125 mL (1/2 cup) sour cream
500 mL (2 cups) sifted flour
5 mL (1 tsp) soda
5 mL (1 tsp) flavouring

Method:
Preheat oven to 180ºC (350ºF).
Cream together the butter and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time.
Mix cocoa into flour.
Mix soda into sour cream, and then mix into butter & sugar.
Alternate adding flour and then coffee to the mixer, along with the flavouring.
Scrape into a 9x9” greased cake tin, and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a tester comes out clean.
