1935 Neversink Molasses Pie Recipe - Old Cookbooks ShowToday we do another old cookbook recipe from a 1935 depression era Pennsylvania Dutch cookbook. Ingredients:1 cup molasses6 tablespoons brown sugar½ lemon (rind only)3 tablespoons flour1 teaspoon cinnamon1 cup bread crumbs, fine1 cup seedless raisins6 tablespoons flour4 tablespoons brown sugar2 tablespoons shorteningMethod:Line a pie pan with pie crust. Spread over it the bread crumbs, and over these the raisins. Then place all the rest of the ingredients listed in the first column (molasses, brown sugar, lemon, flour, cinnamon) above, and mix. Pour this mixture over the pie. Then mix, in a second bowl, the ingredients listed in the second column above (flour, brown sugar, shortening). Make into fine crumbs with fingers. Spread over the pie. Then make inch wide strips of pie -crust and spread them criss-cross over the pie.
