1920s Breakfast Macaroni And Bacon Recipe Mrs Beetons - Old Cookbook Show - Glen And Friends Cooking
These old cookbooks are filled with great historic recipes and old cookbook recipes are a great way of tasting history, and connecting with the past. I love cooking history and making 100 year old recipes; the food history tells us so much about how people lived. Once again cooking with Glen, but this time the recipe is over 200 years old from Mrs Beetons cookbook. So if you enjoy cooking history try this Breakfast Macaroni And Bacon Recipe:

Bacon And Macaroni
Break 4 oz. of macaroni into small pieces, put them into slightly salted boiling water, boil rapidly for about 5 minutes, then drain well. Have ½ pint of stock boiling in a stewpan, put in the macaroni and stew until tender, but not too soft. Cut 4 oz. of streaky bacon into small dice, fry slightly in a sauté pan, then add the well drained macaroni, 1 oz. of butter, a good pinch of nutmeg, and salt and pepper to taste. Stir gently over the fire until the macaroni acquires a nice brown colour, then turn on to hot dish, and serve.
