100% Homemade Red Bean Paste (红豆沙) | The Chinese Cuisine

Everyone knows that homemade tastes the best! This red bean paste is naturally sweet with a little help from sugar. You can add it to various desserts, soups, baozi, zongzi, tangyuan, or straight out of the container because it's just that good and natural!

INGREDIENTS:
- 340g red beans (12 oz.)
- 1 cup rock sugar
- sesame oil

DIRECTIONS:
1. rinse red beans in water
2. add in rock sugar
3. fill with enough water to meet the minimum mark on a pressure cooker or until beans are submerged by ~1 cm
4. slow cook on 'beans' overnight, or for 8 hours
5. pressure cook on 'beans' for 20 minutes
6. pressure cook on 'chili and stew' for 20 minutes
7. grind and mash your now softened beans
8. add a bit of sesame oil to get rid of the dryness. mix
9. store in glass container and refrigerate for later use!
