MORE INFO ABOUT THIS VIDEO

Tourist accounts for 12% of Spain's GDP. That's massive. And it means that without tourism many people and businesses in this country are struggling.

It's been about three months since Yoly and had been into the historic centre - the touristic centre. So we wanted to go into the Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and see what it was like.

And it was very quiet. Not a tourist in sight - of course.

Was it too quiet?

Well, I wonder. Maybe this is a moment in time when we can live an almost unimaginable experiment. Never in modern history has Spain been without tourists. So what's it feel like.

Well, for one thing, you can head the birds in the Plaza Mayor :)
