Its high in protein, iron, magnesium and low in calories, making this an ideal nutritional source for vegan in vegan recipes.It is an ingredient that often gets overlooked, but here are three amazing recipes using TVP thatll teach you how exactly to use TVP.Maple glazed Vegan Nachos:Meat mixture1 Garlic Clove, minced1 Tsp Sweet Paprika1 Tsp CuminHandful of Oregano1 cup water1 cup textured vegetable protein (TVP)1 Tbsp of Nutritional Yeast3 Tbsp of Dark Soy Sauce3 Tbsp of Maple Syrup3 Tbsp Tomato PasteCheese Sauce1 & 1/2 Cups Cashews1 Tbsp Lemon Juice1/4 Cup Nutritional Yeast1/2 Tsp Paprika1/2 Tsp Turmeric300ml Vegetable StockMETHODPlace olive oil in fry pan on medium heatAdd garlic, paprika, cumin and oregano to the pan, stir until fragrantPour in water, allowing it to get to heat. Stir in your TVP until water has mostly evaporatedStir in nutritional yeast, soy sauce, maple syrup and tomato paste to the pan, mixing to combine.Set asideCHEESE SAUCE: Add cashews, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, paprika, turmeric, vegetable stock to a blender. Blend to combineCombine all ingredients over a bed of corn chipsTVP Sloppy Joes Vegan:Sloppy Joes Vegan1 brown onion, diced1/2 green capsicum, diced3 garlic cloves, minced1 cup of TVP (textured vegetable protein)Handful of oregano1 can of diced tomatoes2 tbsp of tomato paste3 tbsp maple syrup1 tbsp dijon mustardMETHODHeat some oil in a fry pan, adding onion, capsicum and garlic. Cooking until lightly brownedAdd in oregano and stir until fragrant.Add in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, maple syrup and dijon mustard. Allow to get to temperature before stirring in your TVP.Continue to stir until sauce thickens up and TVP has rehydratedServe on a burger bunPepper Beef-like Vegan Pies:1 brown onion, diced1 cup button mushrooms, diced1.5 cups TVP2 cup vegetable stock2 tbsp plain flour2 tbsp tomato paste1 tsp black pepper3 sheets puff pastryMETHOD Add diced onion and mushrooms to frypan with oil and saute. Meanwhile, stir together stock, tomato paste and pepper. Once combined, pour over mixture in fry pan. Cook until sauce begins to boil, and add in TVP. Reduce heat and stir until sauce thickens Cut thawed puff pastry to desired size and spoon mixture into pies.
