Traditional Cabbage Vadai by Meenama! Interesting tips & anecdotes too!

Cabbage Vadai
Ingredients:
Urad dal white - 1 cup
Raw rice - 1 tsp
Cabbage - of a medium one
Asaefotida- tsp
Green chillies - 3
Ginger - 2 inches
Curry leaves - handful
Coriander leaves to taste
Oil for deep frying
Salt to taste
Method:
Wash and soak urad dal and raw rice for 1 hour
Grind it to a smooth paste just sprinkling water only if reqd
Now, transfer the Vadai batter to a convenient bowl and beat it thoroughly till the batter is light and fluffy like cotton - test by immersing some batter in water to see that it floats in water
Chop all vegetables finely
Cabbage quantity is optional - you can eyeball
Add all chopped vegetables into the beaten Vadai batter
Add asaefotida
Add salt to taste
Heat oil for deep frying
Shape Vadai batter into Vadai and deep fry till golden
Enjoy the scrumptious Cabbage Vadai with friends and family
