Tamarind Sauce Fish Curry | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Andhra style fish curry, well blended with tamarind sauce and other spices and can be served as a Side-Dish.

TAMARIND SAUCE FISH CURRY

Ingredients

For Marination
400 grams surmai fish fillet
Salt to taste
¼ teaspoon turmeric (haldi) powder
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
2 teaspoons lime juice

For Curry
2 tablespoons oil
½ teaspoon cumin (jeera) seeds
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 ½ tablespoons tamarind (imli) paste
½ teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
¼ teaspoon turmeric (haldi) powder
Salt to taste
Crushed black pepper to taste
Coriander for garnish

Method

1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan and add cumin seeds, roast till fragrant.
2. Add onions and sauté till translucent, add garlic paste and sauté till fragrant.
3. Add tamarind paste, stir and mix well. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and crushed black pepper, stir well and add water as required for the curry.
4. Add the fish pieces, sprinkle coriander on top.
5. Transfer the fish pieces to a serving plate, pouring the gravy from top. Garnish with coriander leaves and lemon wedges.
