Spotted Dick ...let's try this British dessert (from a can)

Ever have spotted dick? I bought this can of Heinz Spotted Dick at my local grocery for about $6. Spotted dick is a British dessert "pudding" traditionally made from suet, or mutton fat--I don't know why it's called a pudding--seems more like a cake to me. The suet is combined with baking soda, flour, molasses, corn syrup, nutmeg, and such. Raisins, currants, or even plums may be added (or other dried fruit) --the fruit makes the "spots" in spotted dick. The dough is either steamed or boiled, and usually served with a custard sauce--instead of a custard sauce, I whipped up a quick dessert topping with cream cheese. All in all it was fine-- cake in a can, basically --and I rarely have a problem with cake.
