SPINACH: THE FAMOUS SECRET OF POPEYES STRENGTH

Full recipe for the SPINACH

Ingredients:

1 kg spinach
500 g ground beef
2 tomatoes
1 large onion
cup Calrose rice
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
1 cup drinking water

Directions:

SPINACH is a curative winter green and one of the most nutrient-rich vegetables on Earth!
So, just like weve seen in Popeye, the Sailor Man, Spinach really gives your body magical powers to get through the winter months!!

Green, delicate leaves of Spinach have the exceptional strength to withstand harsh winters!!

(!) Spinach grows on the ground, so its leaves may have some sand or dirt. Thats why spinach leaves should be washed really well before cooking.

PREPARATION
Wash and drain the spinach, set aside
Peel, wash, and dice the onion, set aside
Wash, peel, and dice the tomatoes, set aside

COOKING
Pour cup of olive oil into a deep pot
Stir and saute the onions on the medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes
Add the ground beef and stir continuously for 5-7 minutes or until its colour turns entirely brown

(!) Spinach is rich in plant-based proteins and iron; so, you can eliminate the ground beef for a nutritious vegetarian version

Add the diced tomatoes, 1 cup of water, cup of Calrose rice, tsp of black pepper, and 1 tsp of salt
Cover the pot with a lid, lower the heat to medium-low, and cook the ingredients for 10-15 minutes, or until the rice softens

(!) In order to maintain their fresh and nutritious taste, SPINACH leaves should NOT be overcooked!! So, add the Spinach only after all other ingredients have been thoroughly cooked

Add the Spinach GRADUALLY!
Do NOT add all the leaves at once, because it is difficult to mix such a large volume and some leaves will be overcooked
So, add the leaves into the pot in small portions. Once the leaves are semi-cooked, move them to one side of the pot, place the new portion onto the bottom of the pot, and transfer the semi-cooked leaves over it
This is a continuous process, and it takes very little time for the spinach leaves to soften with the heat of the pot
Adding the leaves in small portions, allows them to cook slowly and become smaller while they make room for more spinach leaves in the pot
Once you have placed all the leaves into the pot, cover with a lid, set the stove at the lowest setting, and cook for 5-7 more minutes
Then, turn off the stove and rest the spinach for 2-5 minutes before serving

SERVING
Serve the SPINACH dish hot and fresh!

Try NOT to reheat it several times as it will quickly lose its freshness and most of its nutritional value

I recommend eating Spinach in its natural season, the winter, when its flavour is more concentrated, and it is more beneficial for our health!

Traditionally, a plate of spinach is dressed with a generous spoonful of yogurt
Spinach is rich in calcium, but we can only absorb 10 percent of this plant-based Calcium. So, the tradition of having yogurt with it improves the nutritional value as well as the absorption of this deliciously healthy dish!
