Coat the bottom of the pressure cooker with ghee to to prevent dal from sticking to it. 2. Soak the mixed lentils or dal for 4-5 hours. 3. Add into the pressure cooker along with water to immerse it, cover with lid and steam on medium heat without whistle. 4. In another pot heat 3 tablespoons oil, shallow fry onions till they turn golden brown and crispy, remove and keep aside 5. Into the same pot add dry whole red chilies, black gram, curry leaves, the panch phoron spice mix and turmeric powder. 6. Add the white onion, green chili paste, garlic paste, ginger paste, salt and tomato stir and let it cook until done. 7. Add the steamed dal into the cooked vegetables and add garam masala if desired. SERVING 8. Sprinkle with fenugreek leaves, coriander leaves and fried onions and serve.
